Ready for a craft room tour?
We have been working like dogs moving into the new studio in the basement. I have one wall ready to show you. Come on down!
The stairs were rebuilt so now I am not risking life and limb to visit the hinterlands of our house. Hey, there’s a ton of usable space down here!
I loved this art that I scored for half price at Hobby Lobby!
Often it is difficult for me to hang art that has two hangers on the back. This time I put a dab of acrylic paint on each hanger and pressed it on the wall where I wanted the piece to be hung. That left an impression for me to get the nails perfectly spaced. So much easier!
We added a little 22″x44″ deep hidey-hole closet under the stairs. There’s a lot in there. This cart I had from Ikea, an old file chest on top, then my Copic marker cases on top. But wait, there’s more…
Behind the cart we have three coolers that we don’t often use. They are easy to get to if we wanted them though. The whole thing wheels right out. At some point I may put my fabric stash back there instead.
Now I will show you what is in each storage piece. Copics kept in numerical order make it much easier to use them in blending without spending half a day to find the right shades. Love these Art Bin marker cases. They lock and have carrying handles as well.
This beautiful old file box was given to me a few years ago. It used to have ink in it but works like a charm for my ribbon stash.
When filling a new storage space it is wise to leave room for your hobbies to grow. You know they will
The pocket door leads to the back 2/3 of the basement. On the shelf I have (top down) greeting cards ready to donate to Operation Write Home, sewing machine accessories, notebooks with hundreds of clear stamps along with a few Stampin’ Up sets in their cases, wood-mounted rubber stamps–these will be moving soon–and in the bottom basket are all of my steel rule dies (my favorite kind of dies). Once I move the rubber stamps I will probably use the basket they are in for more steel rule dies and maybe my Art Bin magnetic case of nesting dies.
Three more walls to go, so come back in a few days and I should have more to show. My top tip for moving from an upstairs room to a walkout basement: the glorious wheelbarrow! Wheeling it all down the driveway is so much faster and easier on the back!

Looks great and so clean. Mine will never stay that clean.
Gorgeous space Yolanda! It must be easy to be crafty now! Congrats!
Soooooo cool!!!!! Love it!
Of course we all wish we had a space like this, but we are so happy you are able to have such a great area. Can’t wait to see the finished room as the small preview is very nice.
Looking great s far. The lighting especially looks marvelous. Look forward to seeing more…but go easy you need to be in ‘crafting shape’ when you’re all done
Love what I see so far! Looks fantastic!
It’s fun to see the room in pictures after having seen it live! It’s amazing!
Of the treasures I took from your garage, the box of tiles and the light figure will be needed in Kraig’s rental, and Steph snapped up the faucets and toilet seats! We’re looking at craigslist for a sink to match the vanity and a vanity to match the sink!
I like it and I want one now too!
