OWH Sketch Challenge #156
The sketch sample at OWH is quite striking this week. Pink and black are so nice together. I decided to carry that color scheme over with the addition of some fresh green. The focal point is embossed water color paper colored with Distress Markers. The squares are colored and the lighter colored areas are runoff from spraying the piece with water. The sentiment stamp is from Ali Edwards via Technique Tuesday. My favorite part of the card is how it almost looks like the sentiment was cut out since it goes from black to black.
Papertrey Ink recently had a black background challenge. I am too late to link up to that challenge but was intrigues by it. This card is my try.
According to Operation Write Home’s great Design Bootcamp, these two cards follow a complimentary color scheme. There will be a new Bootcamp post once each month so keep an eye out.

Great cards Yolanda! That brilliant flower on the black background is very striking!
Gorgeous cards…the first is awesome with the paper you colors…I am uber envious! tfs!!!
I just love your sketch card!! You are right, the sentiment does look die cut. Too cool!
Love how you used the colors to make a statement! Nicely done!!!
I like pink and black paper too. The second card’s flower really pops with the black background. The sentiment is perfect for either card.
Ooooooooo! Love this so much! The sentiment is fabulous!
absolutely love your colors and your bow is gorgeous! I agree- the sentiment looks great with the script meeting the black paper-you did that on purpose- right?
LOL, yes, on purpose. I thought it would look good, but was surprised at how cool it looked.
Beautiful cards Yolanda. Love your take on the sketch and how your ribbon makes it just pop! Your second card is stunning and the flower just pops off the black. Thanks for playing!
