Rotating Joys?

I’m toying with rotating my joys. Though I don’t know if regimenting my hobbies will kill that joy they give me. It could backfire. What if I sewed one week, played with paint and glue the next, read (a former and now much-neglected joy), made cards the next and then was totally responsible about keeping up the homestead for one solid week? LOL That last one would be the downer week. (Note: We are empty-nesters and don’t kick up a big mess anymore so I have no guilt over my current level of negligence.)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, how about I just post a few cards… These are based on this week’s OWH sketch #156. The paper already had appropriate verbiage so I left off the narrow strip. The papers are from Simple Stories Awesome pad. They are wonderfully masculine and have several sheets with smaller elements that are perfect for Project Life. The rest are perfect for cards. I have 12 cards in progress from this pad so far. It’s my current 6×6 challenge pad.

Crafters of any type will not want to miss the great design boot camp going on at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps.  This totally free design class is offered every Monday. Today is all about color theory. I’m linking up this card as examples of  a color scheme inspired by nature. The papers are from that same Awesome pad.

What do you think of this new blog template I’m using? It’s growing on me very quickly. I love my header picture, which is a morning view from my parking spot at work. Hope you spot a good view nearby today!

Two very nice cards Yolanda! Definitely a ‘based on nature’ color scheme… makes me think of being in the woods… browns and greens with little pops of color. Perfect colors for masculine designs like these.

I like the new blog template… very crisp and clean. Your post makes me feel a little less alone… I was thinking it was just me who struggles to choose between too many interests and not enough time. :)

Thanks! The bike is printed on the paper, but Stampersbest.com has three great motorcycle stamps.

Both cards are fabulous- love seeing masculine cards! And I like that you did a card based on nature… I like browns and earthy colors and your card is inspiring me with both color and layout design! Interesting concept of rotating your joys…..I feel like I need to do something crafty almost everyday- even if it is just looking at paper for the next card. It helps me feel like I am taking time for me! Love the view you have from work!

Missouri mornings are the best. I love your She Art work. You could sell those. Seriously. We’re going to Okracoke Island this summer, and there’s a shop there that would snap your work up in a heartbeat!

I love the view from your parking spot at work. Hey, that’s the view from my parking spot too! But I never noticed it before! Thanks for the inspiration to SLOW DOWN!

I just adore your masculine color theory card. What a great combination of color and design. Thanks for sharing

Great cards…love Simple Stories, but I have not seen that line yet. I sometimes get too caught up in creating cards because it gives me some great stress relief from work and caregiving and I have little free time. I too have other hobbies I neglect…but am trying to get more balance in life. Best of luck!

Oh wow Yolanda, fantastic cards! I’m in love with the first one. I think the chevron paper mimics tire treads from the motorcycle. Love that paper pad, so I’ll have to go hunt for it. I really like your take on the sketch in card 2 and love how the elements blend so beautifully. Thanks so much for playing!

P.S. I love the crisp, clean look of your new blog!

    Yolanda,

What an interesting idea to rotate joys…. keep us posted on how that goes. :)

Both cards are fabulously masculine. I especially like how you invertly rounded the edges on the second card. Great idea!
