Mixing It Up

I really meant to complete a card challenge this afternoon, but the ink called me elsewhere. Instead I did this mixed media piece for a children’s ministry’s charity auction. Someone suggested I offer one after seeing my last She Art Girl. Here she is.

This is what I made today. It still needs one more coat of good old Mod Podge. I tried something new and filled in some of the stamped areas with additional color using Faber Castell Pitt Artists Pens. Love the control and how they blend when they are damp.

This week I also found some fabulous marker storage boxes. Sure I could keep them in rubber banded bundles or orange juice cans, but the whole technique used with Copic markers is blending by the number. Much easier to do if you can find the right numbers quickly! This storage box is perfect for the job. Each of mine have an extra grid to hold more markers.

My Project Life album is moving right along. We spent an afternoon with our daughter-in-law this weekend. It was fun to be able to quickly and easily scrapbook our time together. I had gotten away from doing spreads, but wanted to get back to that so I skipped a right-hand page. I’ll go back and fill it later when I have just a few pics. I like the unified look of a spread. I’ve also been enjoying including screen shots from my phone like these reports from our super up-and-down and up weather this past week.

This method of memory keeping is more about daily realities than big events. I like that. One of my fave quotes is, “Enjoy the little things. For someday you will realize they were the big things.”
