One Little Word 2013–Getting Started
Having mulled it over for a while, I’ve taken the plunge and signed up for Ali Edward’s One Little Word class–year-long class. It’s going to be fun and challenging. The word I chose to get to know well this year is kindness. It’s already making a difference as I purposely try to live it out. We’ll “meet up” once a month for a new video lesson, journaling prompt and assignment. Then end the year with an intimate knowledge of the words of our choice and an 8.5″x11″ album incorporating all of our work. It looks like fun to me, and as a plus, I’ll get to know Ali Edwards design style and techniques a lot better too. I really like her “effortless,” casual, yet polished designs. All this will spill over into my (still fun) Project Life album and probably onto my card creations as well.
I’ll be going with a blue/green/kraft/red color scheme. There are still some great non-Christmassy papers in my 6×6 Christmas themed paper pads to use up and I happen to have four rolls of washi tape that will fill the bill as well.
Part of January’s assignment was to create the first and second pages in which we get to know our word a little better. I am enjoying it, though I had a run in with my word today … We’re friends again. I’ll have to add a card that says “Kindness–It doesn’t always happen.” This is the first time I’ve tried stamping across two cards that would go in separate pockets. I like it. I also like these Jill Bean Soup corrugated arrows and stars.
I tried splitting a single picture into separate pockets this week with my Project Life album as well, and like it. First I’ll show you the original–it’s gorgeous but the photo of my page doesn’t do it justice. It made me think of this line from a song: “Ah, Lord God, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power…”

I love the split photo and the pictures from the Greek restaurant. Opa!
